Murketts Vauxhall comes home to Huntingdon
The Vauxhall name returns to Huntingdon after an absence of more than five years, during which time it was located at St. Ives. The new state of the art dealership shares the prominent Stukely Road site with Murketts’ BMW and MINI servicing and after sales centre, which recently launched its Think we’re expensive? Think again low cost servicing campaign for BMW and MINI owners.
The launch comes during the same week as the welcome announcement that parent company General Motors will be retaining ownership of the Vauxhall / Opel brands in Europe, putting an end to the uncertainly surrounding the marque in the UK. And the highly acclaimed new Astra looks set to remain one of Britain’s best-selling cars when it goes on sale at Murketts on December 11.
“I am really pleased that Murketts and Vauxhall are doing so well and it’s reassuring to see the company investing in its future in Huntingdon during these testing times,” commented Jonathan Djanogly.
“Murketts Vauxhall has come home to Huntingdon, but we have never really been away. Although our St. Ives branch has recently closed, we can still offer Vauxhall owners in this area a genuinely ‘local’ service, with collection and delivery and free courtesy cars for service customers,” added Simon Murkett.

Sunny days dispel winter gloom at Murketts
Visitors flocked to see the new Vauxhall Astra when it went on display in the Grand Arcade in Cambridge town centre in January and were even more amazed with Murketts’ offer to loan them the new Astra to take on a 24 hour test drive. An offer too good to refuse! But hurry, the offer only lasts until March 31, says Murketts.
The overwhelming success of Vauxhall’s ‘Swappage Programme’ where buyers can trade-in cars over seven years old to obtain a discount worth at least £3000, has led to the popular scheme being extended to three more of best-selling Vauxhall models: the Insignia, Meriva and Zafira. This means that in addition to the generous discounts already available on the new Astra, Astra Sports Hatch and almost all Corsa models, buyers can now bag an unmissable deal on two of the most popular MPVs on the market and a recent Car of the Year winner.
Vauxhall’s Swappage offer allows buyers to use any seven-year-old UK-registered car with insurance, road tax and MoT – no matter what its value or condition – as currency to reduce the cost of any of the six models listed by at least £3000.
If you are a first-time buyer, or have got a new job, you can treat yourself to a brand new Vauxhall Corsa SXl 1.4 from just £9995 on the road.
Remember, Murketts have four branches in Cambridge, Huntingdon, Royston and Stapleford.

Can’t scrap it? Swap it and bag £3k off a new Vauxhall
Vauxhall Swappage moves the game on still further from the Government-backed scrappage scheme, according to Murketts, with at least £3,000 carved off the price of all new Astras, Astra Sport Hatches and most new Corsa models, in exchange for any roadworthy car they own which is at least seven years old.
Nor is Murketts imposing any upper age limit on the cars that customers trade in. Better still, unlike the current scrappage scheme, even buyers who have a ten year old car (or older) to swap only need to have owned it for 90 days and Murketts will also allow a husband/wife to trade in their partner’s car, as long as they live at the same address. That means that any seven-year-old UK–registered car with insurance, road tax and MoT – no matter what its value or condition – can be used as currency to reduce the cost of the 2010 Corsa 1.0 Energy 3-dr to just £8,925 and the recently-launched Astra 5-dr to as little as £12,995 for the Exclusiv 1.4 model, confirmed the dealership.
Even bigger savings can be made by swapping your old car for the latest Astra Sport Hatch Sport 1.4, with its standard VXR styling pack, sports suspension and air conditioning. Swappage brings the cost of this model down by a remarkable £3,885 to just £12,995.
“We’re determined that our customers should continue to enjoy excellent offers as the Government’s scrappage scheme comes to an end,” said Mark Smith, Murketts’ sales manager. “Vauxhall Swappage not only increases the amount of discount off selected Vauxhalls from £2,000 to at least £3,000, but it also widens the net to cars over seven years old, compared with ten years plus in the old, Government-backed scheme.”
Vauxhall Swappage is available on all Corsa (exc. S & Exclusiv), new Astra and Astra Sport Hatch models ordered or registered between February 5 and March 31, 2010 at participating dealers, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers.

Test drive a New Astra for 24 hours
And with a range of five petrol and three diesel engines, and a starting price of just £13,294, the new Astra is already set to reinforce its position as one of the most popular cars in its class, says Murketts.
“We are inviting customers to test drive the new Astra for 24 hours and even take it home to show their family. We are confident that the Astra’s stunning looks and performance
will win over quite a few hearts!” said Murketts sales manager Stewart Lebentz.
The Astra’s engine efficiency has improved by over 13 per cent on the outgoing range, meaning that drivers will not only benefit from cleaner emissions but also a reduction fuel costs, VED and Benefit in Kind tax for fleet users. Petrol engines range from an 87PS 1.4-litre to a 1.6-litre turbocharged unit producing 180PS, while diesels span from 110 to 160PS in either 1.7 CDTi or 2.0 CDTi form.
The Astra also offers customers a range of options not normally found in this class. AFL (Adaptive Forward Lighting) offers drivers no less than nine headlight functions that automatically adapt to road conditions, while the addition of FlexRide brings a choice of
three suspension settings which drivers can manually control or leave for the car to select automatically.

Don’t skimp on servicing, advises Murketts
“It’s too easy to put car servicing off, whether it’s to save money or just due to the demands of work or family, but it is a false economy that could end up costing car owners more in the long-run,” explains Adrian Gibbins, after sales manager of Murketts. “Many owners might be putting off taking their car to a franchised dealer, but in today’s economic climate we offer very competitive service and maintenance deals using manufacturer-approved parts, maintaining your warranty and saving you money in the future.”
The value of regular servicing should not be underestimated and too many motorists rely on the annual MoT as a vehicle ‘health check’, which can be a false and dangerous economy. A proper service should reduce costs by ensuring that costly defects are
spotted early. In addition, a well-maintained vehicle with a service history showing regular work in accordance with the manufacturer’s schedule could boost the market value of a
vehicle at resale.
“The absence of a service history can knock hundreds or thousands of pounds off a vehicle’s future value, as a potential buyer will assume that the vehicle has been neglected and is potentially dangerous as a consequence. In contrast, regular servicing not only keeps your car on the road, but helps to make sure potential buyers are lining up when the time comes to sell. This also applies to older vehicles, for which we can offer extremely cost-effective Masterfit servicing from only £79 inclusive.” concludes Adrian.

THE GRAND ASTRA PROMOTION
Gemma Brooks and Joanne Lewis from Murketts Vauxhall will be on hand to answer any questions that you may have about Vauxhall’s latest star car, distribute Astra brochures and arrange a test drive at the dealership at a later date of your calling.
In order to go straight in at number one in the family hatchback class, the latest Vauxhall Astra has to be very good indeed.
This new 5th generation Astra has more space than its still excellent predecessor, sleeker styling and improved driving dynamics, courtesy of a clever rear suspension system. With Vauxhall’s usual vast range of engines and trim levels, it’s certainly the one to watch.
Murketts Vauxhall have had a vast amount of interest in this stylish new model and customers have been visiting the showroom for months to find out more. It’s certainly very stylish but the New Astra has more than just a pretty face. The car’s on the road dynamics place it right at the top of its class when it comes to driving pleasure. It’s very roomy, highly efficient, which is especially important today, and it’s superbly built. What’s more, most models are constructed here in the UK at Vauxhall’s highly efficient plant in Ellesmere Port.
New Astra offers a highly accomplished drive. Put it through its paces and you’re likely to be very impressed. The car is available with the standard suspension or Vauxhall’s FlexRide variable damping system that allows the driver to choose from normal, Tour or Sport settings.
It’s the five-door cars that arrive first but an estate is destined to follow with the sporty three-door model hot on its heels. You can expect the usual wide range of engine options and trim levels, not to mention a bulging options list. The Astra range comprises five models – S, Exclusiv, SRi, SE and Elite – each of which comes with high levels of equipment as standard, including ESP, six airbags, air conditioning, daytime running lights and electric windows.
Amongst the available features on selected models, there’s ambient mood lighting that lights up areas of the cabin with bulbs hidden in the trim and an adjustable boot floor that can open up a variety of storage options.
It all sounds good doesn’t it! So see the stunning all-new Vauxhall Astra at The Grand Arcade Shopping Centre on St Andrew’s Street in Cambridge from this Friday 22nd January, courtesy of Murketts Vauxhall. For more information why not call the dealership on 01223 706 706

C'monn Corsa
The current recession has meant that motorists are becoming increasingly cost conscious, so Murketts Vauxhall has responded this week with the launch of an economy-priced Corsa SXi with a frugal, 1.4-litre engine and a raft of extras for less than £10,000.
With the Corsa, Vauxhall is set to sell more sub-125g cars than any other model range in the UK next year, thanks to significant efficiency gains in its engines. The ultra-economical petrol engines exceed 50mpg combined when fitted with a manual gearbox and are joined by a raft of improvements to the Corsa’s chassis, boosting its driver appeal still further, says Murketts.
The Corsa SXi’s 1.4-litre engine produces an impressive 90PS and sips petrol at just 46.3 mpg combined. But running costs and emissions are not the only weapons in the Corsa’s armoury. To maintain its success in the small car class, Vauxhall’s engineers have made important revisions to the car’s steering and suspension set-ups. Softer springs have been employed in the front suspension, mated to an anti-roll bar with new bushes and an increased diameter, improving ride and control characteristics. The current model is available from stock in a range of colours including flame red, black sapphire, star silver and metro blue.
Completing the package of changes to Vauxhall’s biggest selling car is a long list of features which have been added as standard to the SXi, which now gets air conditioning, alloy wheels, a CD player with MP3 socket, tinted windows, cruise control and an on-board computer for just £9995, a saving of £3,200 over the normal list price.
There are only 30 Corsa SXis on offer at Murketts, so, C’mon, what are you waiting for? For further information contact Murketts Vauxhall.

Murketts VXR weekend gets a flying start
And to add still more spice, Vauxhall's highly successful BTCC Vectra driven by Fabrisio Giovanardi lined up alongside the fire-breathing VXR8 Bathurst edition in Murketts' showroom.
Diesel customers took the wheel of Murketts' fantastic 1.9CDTI Astra Sports Hatch, complete with Thorney Motorsport performance upgrade.
The Vauxhall tuning specialist also brought its fearsome racing Dunlop Sportmaxx Astra along with their VXRR Corsa. The owner John Thorne and colleague Tony Drake were on hand to show customers around these impressive cars as well as displaying their tuning parts and upgrades.
Wicked Wheels demonstrated their damaged alloy wheel renovation techniques, with Dent Devils busily removing minor dents from customers' cars. Auto Glym showed visitors how to keep the rest of their cars sparkling with their products. Meanwhile, Irmscher UK was tempting customers with their latest approved body and interior styling kits.
Murketts' Tim Abbott was delighted with the inaugural VXR weekend: "We couldn't believe how popular the event was and I can only image how many people would have attended on Saturday had the weather been better! There was a lot of interest in ThorneyMotorsport and the other companies who attended and business has been good for Murketts, too. We have already sold one car, received lots of enquiries, done two tuning upgrades for customers and a lot of servicing business besides.
"This event has done a lot to put Murketts well and truly on the map as a VXR dealer and Thorney Performance Centre added Tim.
