Continuing to put the fun back into driving, Vauxhall Corsa has given eighteen year old Charlotte Gunn from Southend the opportunity to star in the new TV advertisement by winning the national Corsa Pop Art Idol competition which ran earlier this year on Facebook.

The new Corsa TV advertisement communicates Corsa’s style credentials from a fun and fresh angle, featuring Charlotte Gunn in the kiss scene and gallery wall of the TV advertisement.

Since launching in April, thousands have ‘Pop Arted’ their images on the Corsa Facebook Fan page. There they could Pop Art their image and drop it onto the gallery wall, post it on their own page and even pass it on to other Facebook friends and get them to Pop Art themselves too. Five runners up each won a two foot square canvas of their Pop Arted image to display in full glory at home.

Created and managed by Marvellous, the Corsa Pop Art Facebook Campaign was launched in April 2010 with over 6,000 entrants. To date there are now over 21,500 fans of Vauxhall Corsa on Facebook.

Murketts Vauxhall held a very successful launch of the brand new Vauxhall Movano panel van at Ridgeons in North Cambridge on Thursday 1st July. The invited guests found plenty to interest them with many climbing into the back of the display models to check out the Movano’s cavernous load space.

They also discovered that the exclusive Movano launch pack promotion has been extended and as a consequence, any New Movano purchased before the end of September will come with no less than £1,400 worth of very desirable extras and options completely free, including air conditioning, a trip computer, Bluetooth connectivity and a vehicle alarm.

The new Movano comes in a number of body styles including panel van, doublecab, chassis cab, crew cab and platform cab. The engine choices include 100ps, 125ps, 146ps versions of the diesel 2.3-litre CDTI 16V in either Euro 4 or Euro 5 guise. All engines are mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox.

The new Movano’s payload is between 1176kg and 2254kg with the floor length ranging from 2.58m to 4.38m. Its load space volume is up to 17m3.

You might have heard in Chancellor George Osborne’s recent budget that VAT on new cars is to be increased to 20% from its current level of 17.5% with effect from January 1, 2011. So if you missed, or weren’t able to benefit from the government’s much vaunted ‘Scrappage Scheme’, now could be your last chance to really save money by beating the VAT increase next year, says Vauxhall dealer Murketts of Royston.

This equates to an increase of 2.5 per cent on the price of every new vehicle sold in the UK, or a rise of £375 in the price of an ‘average’ £15,000 car. Indeed, Murketts has calculated the expected price increases on some of their most popular Vauxhall models, such as the Agila 1.0 Expression which will rise by an estimated £185, or the range topping Insignia VXR Sports Tourer Nav, which will go up by £713 with next year’s VAT increase.

“The important point is that if you want your new Vauxhall to be purchased at the current 17.5% rate then it will need to be ordered very soon, as you will pay the VAT on delivery of the car, not on order. This means that orders taken late in 2010 will almost certainly be fulfilled in 2011 at the higher VAT rate,” explains Murketts sales manager Graham Radley.

Martians, space monsters, Star Troopers and pint-sized astronauts set the theme for Stapleford Primary School’s fête last Saturday (June 19).

Murketts has joined forces with Vauxhall Motors in the search for Europe’s greenest driver as part of its ecoFLEX Experience, a unique competition where entrants can show off their fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly driving skills.

Kicking off on April 1, Vauxhall will be looking for UK drivers to take part in a pan-European competition. The contest will set out to find the driver who can squeeze the most mileage from one of Vauxhall’s ecoFLEX models. But first, entrants will need to prove their eco-mettle in an on-line quiz, before proving their virtual driving and fuel-saving skills on an internet simulator.

The very best eco driver from the UK will then be invited to a multi-day event at the Sturup Raceway in Malmö, Sweden, this summer along with entrants from 19 other participating countries. Here, contestants will receive professional tuition in a range of ecoFLEX models and the greenest driver overall will be named the ‘ecoFLEX Experience Champion’.
