New Meriva

The New Meriva is set to turn the conventional concept of family car usability on its head, with dynamic styling, premium quality, unique first in segment rear hinged "FlexDoors" and a raft of clever features that are set to further boost Meriva's versatility and practicality. With premium styling cues taken from the interior and exterior of our latest models the New Meriva will also feature Vauxhall's signature lighting, wrap around "wing" dash and side body blade sculpture. A distinctive ‘wave' in the rear window line has been created which accentuates the FlexDoors and also offers panoramic views for rear passengers.

Flexibility

New Meriva offers increased practicality and versatility over the outgoing model. Flexibility is the key; with 32 separate storage solutions ranging from an ample glove box which has a space saving shelf for the owner's manual, as well as coins and pens. There's also a mini glove box on the driver's side, while the front door pockets can carry drinks bottles of up to 1.5 litres and up to 1.0 litre bottles in the rear. In the luggage area, the Flex Floor can be set to bumper height for ease of loading whilst at the same time offers under floor stowage with further storage compartments provided in the luggage area sidewalls. The Flexibility message does not end here, Vauxhall have developed some unique and first in segment features for the New Meriva as well as enhancing some of our current solutions to accommodate a variety of family transport needs. FlexDoors, FlexSpace & FlexRail are critical features.
 
Flexibility: FlexDoors

 A unique first-in-segment feature that offers the complete "WOW" factor. FlexDoors are rear-hinged back doors which swing open towards the back of the car at an angle of nearly 90 degrees, vastly improving the ease with which occupants enter and leave the cabin. Rather than having to step back, or to one side, as you would using a conventional front-hinged door, the FlexDoors allow unimpeded forward entry / exit to and from the cabin. For parents with small children there are further benefits. Due to the larger door opening and free space around the B-pillar, parents can lift small children forwards in to rear-mounted, second-stage child seats without having to contort themselves around a door. And with both the front and rear doors open (the fronts open at a similar angle to the rear FlexDoors) a ‘parent friendly' zone is created with no door barrier between front and rear occupants. Another feature of the FlexDoors is the sculptured "wave line",  the wave line on the rear doors compliments the overall design of the New Meriva and offers improved passenger visibility in the rear, especially for small children. It's worth noting that the New Meriva's FlexDoors have an array of safety features built in to the vehicle. For example, at speeds of above 2 mph, the doors automatically lock and a proximity sensor housed within the rear doors also stops the occupants from opening the doors above this speed.
 
Flexibility: FlexSpace

The much praised FlexSpace seating system which was introduced on the current Meriva has been significantly enhanced for our latest model. The FlexSpace system offers a range of cabin configurations without having to remove any of the seats. Now more intuitive to use, a new one step action allows for easier fold down of the rear seats, while moving the rear seats to create more boot, leg or shoulder room is simpler than ever. While FlexSpace makes it easier to convert the Meriva from five seats to two, both the outer rear seats can be folded or moved forward and back individually, and when the centre seat is folded also slide inwards to provide more shoulder width and leg room in a spacious four seat layout. With the rear seatbacks up, the Meriva's has 400 litres of luggage capacity, increasing to 920 litres with the seatbacks folded. But use all the space up to the roof and an impressive 1500 litre capacity is available.

Flexibility: FlexRail

A totally new concept in storage, New Meriva's unique FlexRail system provides convenient and adaptable storage for a wide range of everyday items, from drinks bottles and bags to colouring books and MP3 players. Space for the FlexRail between the front seats has been liberated by raising the gearshift location and replacing the traditional handbrake with an easy to use electronic park brake button (standard on all models). The result is an uninterrupted storage zone that extends rearward from the base of the centre console and is accessible from the rear seats. The base floor module which is standard on the S, Exclusiv and SE trims comprises of two cup holders, a 12-volt power socket , Aux-in & USB connection. The Exclusiv trim gains twin polished aluminum rails with a sliding cup holder and the range topping SE model further features a sliding storage box with armrest. The removable sliding cup holder and storage box with arm rest can be positioned at varying points along the aluminum rails to accommodate a variety of storage needs.
