Vauxhall Cambelt

Is it time to change your cambelt?

Synchronised performance

It is essential that you change in accordance with manufacture specification as your cambelt deteriorates through age and mileage.

What is a cambelt?

Cambelts or timing belts, as they are also known, are made from rubber-based compound reinforced with nylon, which typically has square teeth on the inside of the surface. The cambelt connects all the engines moving components, crankshaft, camshaft and valves.   What happens if it breaks or fails?  If the cambelt breaks or fails to maintain the correct synchronisation of the engines moving components, major damage to the valves, pistons, cylinder head and cylinder walls can result. This can be very expensive and in extreme cases can lead to you needing a new engine.

Over time your cambelt will deteriorate, so even if you do low mileage, your cambelt will need changing at certain time intervals. Your local Vauxhall MasterFit retailer will be able to advise you of this.

After all your car is probably the second biggest single purchase you make, after a house.   Whenever your Vauxhall passes through our workshop it will undergo a visual health check (VHC) - a comprehensive visual inspection of the key functions of your Vauxhall to ensure its safety on the road, such as brakes, steering and tyres.   The VHC inspection will be made no matter what your vehicle was originally booked in for. This is because at Vauxhall MasterFit we believe we have a ‘legal duty of care' to our customers. You will receive a no-obligation written report on your car which will include any recommendations for each item, along with a fixed price quote should any faults be found.   So next time car is due for service, contact your Murketts, your local Vauxhall MasterFit retailer.     The Visual Health Check report includes the following checks, with a report and recommendation for each item, where applicable:  Electrics and lights:
